Help - Latin Name Soft Ruscus??
Does anyone know the Latin name for Soft Ruscus?
Can only find hard ruscus in my files!
Am in middle of assignment and Internet is no help - everyone calls it soft ruscus!

it's brill - we used it alot when we were at college. you can search through hundreds of flowers, plants and foliages and it gives you pictures too.

search for 'ruscus' on the product name bit on the right hand section of THIS PAGE
then click on 'show' and it comes up with all the different types of ruscus - and the best bit......click on the numbered code on the left of the plant/flower name and you get a fact sheet that tells you all about it. VERY, VERY usefull for assignment work!!!

Correct name soft ruscus
Just in case any student came across this thread and thought soft ruscus was ruscus auculeatus - it's not - have just found out it's danae racemosa.
I know you all really wanted to know that...........

Knowing the latin name,whilst comendable has no real or relevant use,in the actual real world of running a florist shop,as you say "everyone" calls it soft ruscus...because thats what it is.
The day that the people who set these assignments move into the real world, cannot come soon enough for this industry,by all means give students a general grounding on this kinda stuff,but to labour on it serves no great purpose...JUST MY OPINION...WAS SHOUTED...

The problem with most courses is that they have to include a certain amount of 'theory' to be worthy of the C&G/NVQ certification. If a course is classed as simply vocational they're worth nothing in the academic (i.e. funding) even though they're more useful in the real one.
