Well I know your hair and nails still grow for a while when you die, but WHY do tulips and not roses still grow after they have been cut?

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the stems in the cell being more elastic than most cut flowers, and so the extra water makes them turgid and elongate...I think Anemones do it too?

but thats just a guess!
