It stands for Advanced National Certificate in Floristry (level 3) which is set by City & Guilds. Next is the HDF (level 4) which is the higher diploma in floristry, then the MDPF Master Diploma in Professional Floristry (level 5) which is as high as it goes.. Which is why I chose this route. The BTECs HNDs are quite business orientated with little practical so they weren't for me having already done business. It's the practical side I won't to perfect.
They say if going Edexcel/BTEC route the MDPF should be considered as these focus on academic/research skills in the wider landbased/floriculture sector, not just floristry. ![]()

we do quite a bit of practical we do 65 arrangements over 3 units which cover funeral wedding and gift wrapped arrangements and then the other 3 units are all paper work and research and tons of writing

Frizzy that turned out fab in the end, your bouquet is gorgeous. Well done!
I'm doing the Level 2 National Certificate in Floristry, same as Frizzy except I'm doing it over a year and learning balloon artistry as well. We got some information about the Advanced Certificate today and I'm really keen to get on it after this ends. |

I love the level 3. It needs updating, some really dark-age stuff in there and not enough creative scope. You should definitely do it. The business units are something of nothing and you don't gain a lot, but it you don't mind jumping through a few hoops, you'll get a good qualification out of it.

The good thing about the ANCF is it is classed as full-time, although only 3 days per week, and as such attracts government funding. It therefore only cost me £60 for the year. Plus a small fee for materials. Trips are additional and not compulsory...don't give up, have a look at different colleges maybe?

thats the good thing about my course too classed as full time - only go 3 days a week - got funding through college for traveling and materials, and there are trips like April we are going to Cornwall to the Eden Project and some other places over 3 days - paid for by college and in may off to Holland for a week - visit Aalsmeer flower auction etc - paid for by college AND cos i didn't earn any money last year qualified for ALG (Adult learning grant) £30.00 per week (over 19's version of EMA) which is good cos i spend the 4 days i'm not in college doing bloody assignments and evaluations?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or doing my 240 hrs work experience (unpaid)
but believe i ain't moaning i think i got it very easy compared to some in my group who have paid for the course and trips.
