We de-thorn as well...and use that yellow flowery thing...it keeps the thorns on, but just blunts the point a bit. Does make for easier handling!

we have to de thorn too at college - they bought us those yellow flower shape strippers - but as an ''experiment'' i tried a pet grooming glove with the palm similar to the flower shape - worked well and my hand didn't stain green after doing 50 roses - did ok on AYR too - only draw back couldn't find a left handed one for one of the girls in my group to try.

If it is the plastic flower shape you are talking about it suits either left or right handed people

Perhaps I am old fashioned but I just snip the tips of the thorns with scissors. Pain in the .... with highly thorned but worth it as pointed out look more natural.

If you're gonna leave thorns on, why not pop a clearly visible sign up warning customers? That way you're covered. You have public liability insurance anyway...just in case!

Do you let your customers peruse your flowers? Florists round here might as well put barbed wire around them!

Could put a sign up but I personally hate being bitten by a rose so can't think my customers would particularly enjoy it! As for perusal - my guys would have it no other way! One florist round here keeps most of her flowers in the back and customers are always moaning to me about it.
