Oh yes, co-ordinating hair and wrist piece!
Right, last night of the proms... Rule Brittania Waves Patriotism Union Red, white and blue Gilbert and Sullivan Bobbing! I see a female soloist wearing an immaculately tailored little black dress, her hair held back in a striking hairpiece of red, white and blue with lots of movement. The design would be scaled down for the matching wrist corsage so as to allow her arms freedom to play her instrument. Funny how I get more creative on friday nights after a brandy or four... ![]() |

Have they stated what the guest soloist is doing? I only ask because my daughter plays the viola and said that if she was given something for her wrist it might restrict her playing. Sorry to put a downer on the suggestions but that might be worth thinking about if the soloist was to be a musician and not a singer.

That's a good point - I read it as a singer but obviously it could be a musician in which case a wrist corsage wouldn't be great for anyone. Maybe they leave it to you to say what the soloist is so you can design around it. In any case I expect the marking emphasis will be on interpretation of theme, techniques used and composition so don't get overly hung up on type of musician. Will you have enough time to do matching pieces?
Best of luck Jake - hope you get through so I can come and watch you at Tatton! |
