I have read this thread with great interest and agree in all suggestions but no one has mentioned dianthus, big headed dianthus comes in soooooooo many new colours and have ( in my opinion) great potential in wedding work.
Just imagine green Prado ( think thats the name )as a ball with beargrass, Jasmin leaves ( or is it twigs?) or other greenery, wire and pearls hanging down

Dont think I would have said that 5 yrs ago ( always thougth it was old fashion and boring) but have a totally changed view on dianthus now Think dianthus were the most hated flower (people had that opinion that it was only used in funeral work and it never has been as far as I know( 30 yrs in the business) ) in many years but that is beginning to change now. In Dk anyway.

excellent idea Nep!!! that sounds really good! (jasmin trails? lengths? pieces?don't know either!!!)

Dianthus is reallllllly slowly coming back here too..and there is soooo much you can do with them!! Last year we did a bq with only green dianthus and ornithogalum arabicum, pulled typha criss- cross over it and one single mini cala layed in the middle across. looked amazing! (AND I think I'm going to buy stocks in the aluminum wire company!I'd be my best customer!)

Ohwa you need to share your suppliers mt and nep. Liking the carnation idea too. Cheap too Tree, but maybe you'll get the same response from your tutor as your xanth idea . 'Pretty' flowers might be a better option if you are building a portfolio to show real brides tho.

My current tutor is v. creative, open to ideas - it was the one on the wedding course last year that was a cow! Am sure she wouldn't have set such an open brief.

Would like to try something a bit different and yes will be good for the portfolio.
