Question about modern apprenticeships

Have any of you had dealings with modern apprenticeships though colleges (from an employers side), and if you have, have you had any financial assistance with it?.
Thanks Jim

Yes we've had trainees with us who've followed a modern apprenticeship at college but have never had any financial assistance from them. I didn't realise you could get it?

I have been interested in these, but once college phoned me and said I would have to contribute £170.00 per week for a student! hummmm so if anyone knows or finds out I would be interested.

Oh ok, that kind of financial assistance towards fees you mean?

I think I'm right in saying if the student is under 25 and this is their first level 2 or 3 qualification then the fees are paid by the goverment.

It varies from college to college as to whether they provide the flowers or whether the student (therefore you) have to.

Depending on who you talk to there may be some funding available, the person doing the course (depending on their age) should have their fees paid, but from what I can gather there should be something available for the us the employer. Our YA has only been to college 3 times since September, So we are doing all the training and then an assessor (who is very good) comes every few weeks, so I’m not sure why the college get to keep all the money they only fill in forms and tick boxes.
We do the training.

Don't know, but here are a lot of people in offices who you can ring and ask questions about this and they will tell you they don't know, and I don't think they do know, we are trying to get some info out of one of the head bods at Lantra who keep sending out some nice leaflets and emails But I'm baffeled if I know what alll these people do.

they will keep the money jim cause they will be the accredited centre for city and guilds or whoever the awarding body is. They will have secured a contract from the government to qualify this person and nvqs were set up for on the job training. They are just assessing their work to a specific set of criteria which when they have met will give them their nvq. Hate to tell you but they will be getting a monthly fee just for them to be on their books i used to work in training and its a farce to be honest. only winners are the private training companies and colleges.
