I am entering a competition and for this I will be including rolled petals. When attempting to wire and tape the petals they break and seem too delicate. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or adivice how to wire and tape rolled petals?

the lady i work for single leg mounts a .29 mm wire and parafilms very carefully if i am thinking the same as you that is lol

ditto joe - maybe the petals are breaking cos your using too thicker wire - wire with a thin wire .30g to secure the roll tape over with parafilm and then add a thicker wire .46g to the end of first wire to make a longer ''stem'' on your petal and again cover with parafilm.

I would roll the and then use a very thin wire around not pulling too hard, to break the petal. Then i would use parafilm too again not pulling too hard!

Hi Emma......don't be shy, it's nice to know who we're talking to...

Don't wire petal by wrapping the wire round it..........roll the petal, then push VERY thin wire through the bottom of the petal, (this helps keeps the petal rolled), bend wire legs straight down, then parafilm....this also stops the petal sliding out of wire and film.

I use finest wire I can push wire through and just bend down parafilm carefully rolling petal a little tighter as I tape then add heavier or longer wire and tape again

me too mardy and this is the old way lol , but you dont have to wire them through you can roll and bind around the middle with decorative fine wire then leave the ends long and maybe add another wire a bit thicker depends what your design is
