I have just completed the level 3 ANCF (C&G). It was excellent but the specification has changed for this September. More floristry than when I did it, I believe.
I can't comment on the BTEC. I think they are regarded fairly similarly, although the C&G qualification has been developed with the Society of Floristry, which is the route I have chosen. I will go on to ICSF and MDSF. Good luck, and keep us posted!

My new student/ casual cover lady is going on to do level 3,,can't remember which version,,she has been told by the college running it that she must be working in the industry in some capacity to be accepted onto the course . She does some hours in garden centre and some with me. Is it the same nationwide or just a few colleges? I've not heard of this before.

I'm confused, are there 2 different C&G courses (level 3), as I don't think the one they are running near me is the ANCF? I don't think there is a compulsary work placement
Apparently the first 6 months (the one here) is mainly art based, whch has put me off, as I already have an illustration degree, and want to learn about floristry not art and design as I have already done this. |

There is the Advanced National Certificate in Floristry which is level 3 and offered by NPTC C&G.
There is also an 'arty' course, the name of which escapes me. It incorporates elements of floral design, but is by no means a floristry course. I think Joe Flo might be doing it. ![]()

ooohhhh yes,,,all that art stuff!! I hated that,,spent hours drawing bloody ivy leaves,,what the hell for,,what was all that about!!! I just wanted to play with flowers,,not draw them,,but looking back I can almost see what I gained from it. I remember my wedding project thing,,I did a star trek wedding,,,
and then wondered why everyone thought me strange!!

I think this is what you're doing isn't it Joe? Advanced Course Search - Foundation Certificate Creative Design A small quote: This innovative course will allow students to choose six individual modules of interest to them from a larger portfolio of titles, such as floristry, landscaping, garden design, photography and business. So it does incorporate floristry, but I think there are lots of other things too. Obviously you know better Joe, cause you've discussed it with people and I'm purely going on what I've read! Once this course is completed, you can go on to study the foundation degree in commercial floral design. ![]()
