Once they are open, I shall ring the Royal British Legion and sort out a collecting box and some wreaths for an uber-poppy window. Oh I'm so excited and so pleased to be helping.

Just heard from my local office today. Really lovely lady. She asked what i would like to stock, and in the end i couldnt decide, so she invited me down when there open to choose what to put in me window.

She said they have poppies, crosses, wreaths and posies.

I want to push Help the Heroes too, i dont want to be one sided. I'll have two boxes and try and guilt people hehe x

I love that window! What a great idea .We have the poppy factory down the road in Aylesford so Im going to contact them for some tins etc.
My Dad used to take me to White hall every remembrance day and I would watch it from a balcony at the home office.He was a telephone engineer and in the days before computers he was responsible for setting up the communications between Whitehall and the guns which are fired for the silence.
I always watch it on the TV and also keep the silence on the 11th.

Have left three seperate messages at my local Britsh Legion offices and nothing Anyone got anymore ideas?

I never cease to be amazed by what goes on in the background of events like these. I just assumed they all checked their watches at the morning's briefing ["Righto, chaps, in exactly 10 seconds it will be eight-oh-three - ten nine, eight . . ."] and got on with it!
