w'hoo the peony I found under a bush last year has come back, I thought I might have killed it off when I moved it but it looks far heathier than the straggley thing it was last summer.
I bought some goodies yesterday, I got a lovely jasmine to climb up the fence where the nasty fence man killed my honeysuckle last year. I Also got veggie seeds. Has anyone attempted to grow sweetcorn before? I know it's a bit ambitious hehehehe but my rasied beds get full sun and the packet says they are easy to grow ![]() I thought I might start all the seeds off at the shop this year as I'm here all the time so I can look after them better and it doesn't matter if I get soil and water all over the place

I grow sweetcorn every year, it's quite easy but i never get mahoosive cobs and quite often they are only partially pollinated. I grow a shorter season super sweet one called Swift (i think) normally. They like a lot of sun and water and are greeder feeders too
. Take up quite a bit of room for what they yield but homegrown taste so much better and they look pretty too. |

hehe we started with corn 3 yrs ago when I smuggled a pack of Peaches and Cream corn seeds over from 'home'...we've been hooked ever since! Yummmmm! True rosa..homegrown tastes so much better!! ((hence the 8 tomato, 4 cucumber, rows and rows of leeks, rhubarb, peas, beans, green kale, sprouts and 5 kinds of lettuce we sowed this year
, maybe I'll just sell the stuff in the shop!! ) I'm trying out some Latyrus this year...love the smell. Also got my summer pretties all planted on the weekend.Along with the 25 teddy sunflowers I sowed I did pots and pots and more pots of Brachyscome, Lantana, Lysimachia and Allyssum mixed with Hostas, Lambsear, green and white euonymus AND I found a GORGEOUS Acer(japanese maple) with bright green leaves...Ok, now I know I have WAY to much at home!! What colour is your peony sosas? Mine hasn't had a single flower for over 4 years...just nice leaves ![]()

I don't know what colour it is Maple I didn't even know I had it. I found it under a bush I cut back. It only had a couple of leaves the poor thing. So it will be a surprise, though it will probably refuse to flower this year.
MMmmmmmm I love sweet peas, I'll try and get some seeds off a grower again they were much nicer than the poo plants the garden centres sell

Mapletree I have been planting a florist garden at my brother in laws land. So far I'm quite impressed with all that I have done. I have Cuppressas Ivy willow dogwood red robin and many other trees and shrubs that we have used in the past. ( forgive the spelling ) I can't wait to prune some of it back for the first time and be able to use it.

Does anybody know what Argyr is short for or know this plant and can tell me if its a perennial or annual or anything about it please
