Apparently if you plant the lily out in a shady spot it will come back the next year.

Apple , do you get your plants from Heems? Dont you think they should give a little more info on them? I know we should know more but half the time I havent a clue what I've bought!!

I agree totally Alby, Im not great with outdoor as i think most florists wouldnt be cause we had enough to learn at college with indoor without outdoor too, and I find they abreviate the names so google cant find them either lol. My plants came in today and I have some snapdragons that i dont remember ordering lol, they were down as 'Ov Vast Gemengde Kar' on the invoice but im nearly sure thats not snapdragons and I cant remember what it was i was looking at, could have been busy lizzy......I recon the dutchies know im rubbish at outdoor so they just send me whatever they have got most of

Yep, still not sure what 'overig' and 'gemende' mean!! I think Gemende is mixed? I have decided the drivers are a law unto themselves.

Outdoor Plant Books

The best plant books I find for reference are the 'Expert Book range' by Dr D.G. Hessayon. The have a Flowering shrub expert, a bedding plant expert and various other plant related experts. I find them handy as they are not too big and you can just go to the expert you want e.g. bedding plants and look up your plant by either common or latin name. There is also advice on each plant but not enough to make it boring

And no I am not on commission

You can buy them in B&Q on Amazon or any good bookshop

gemengd-mixed
overig-not sure the exact word but I call them 'other stuff'! on my list under overig is always the 'other stuff' than roses etc. such as alstro(eww), alchemilla, pistache, hypercium and all the other filler stuff!

Definatly get your dutchies to translate for you or you will end up ordering "Volkerfrieden"...thought I'd give it a go a few weeks ago and lo and behold a whole sh#t load of grass-type stems came in that had me sneezing for 3 days straight!

The shop I used to work for had a huge garden/outdoor section so I know quite alot of the names but there is still stuff that comes in on the list which makes me . I LOVE outside stuff though! (got the most wonderful thymus in today....sigh...of course 2 had to come home to live in my garden
