not really have been to scared to water it too much cos one of the tutors at college said that they prefer to be dry rather than wet so have only watered it twice a week by sitting it in a bowl of water to soak up through the compost. Didn't think it would like it outside - it is very big so i could try it in the pot it's in - I have trimmed off all the brown stems and leaves but left the yellowing ones

Hi,
This was taken from a uk site which is usually really good. It may help your Gloriosa. A truly stunning climber. Ideal for conservatories. It will grow about 2 meteres a year and give a magnificent display of flowers.Support is needed as is grows using tendrills which grow out of the leaf ends. From Africa this is the national flower of Zimbabwe. It will die back over winter when the tubers can be stored like dahlias. Site: Bright light with some direct sun. Temp: Likes a warm spot and will not tolerate sharp drops in temperature over the spring. Water: Water well over the growing season and do not let the tubers completly dry out when stored over winter. Feeding: Feed well throughout the growing season. Tip: Every year the tuber will divide giving you two more plants the next year!. |
