Hi Jo, Ive got an allotment althought I havent been up there much this year cos of the shop. I am determined to get back into it thought as I want to try some flowers funny enought.
Best tip is grow what the family will eat I got very carried away many years ago with all sorts of strange veg and most if it went to waste. If youve got space then spuds are a great start as they store well in a shed/garage out of light and when you dig them up it really gives the ground a good dig breaking up the soil nicely for other crops. Onions are also easy and keep well. Beetroot also easy and pickles well Beans/french/runner whatever type your family will eat Cabbage brussel sprouts wernt too bad - Cauli can be a bit hit or miss Raspberries are easy easy look after themselves Rabbits are my biggest problem I swear they eat chicken wire for breakfast !! Good luck Sue |

Very much what scamer suggested.
Also swede are very easy, and store well. I have loads of packs of veg seeds, PM me your address and I will send you an assortment. Most of them are for planting springtime, but think cabbage can go in now for spring harvest. |
