Like I said have no wish to get into any arguement over this, it has already been done and dusted on here more times than I can remember and only results in a "US and THEM" scenario and doesnt do anyone any good.(u can search on the subject and you may understand what I mean)

Whereabouts in Northants are you? I am really shocked that you have said your local florist is very expensive and unfriendly Most florists even in Northants will bend over backwards to help a customer but if you are going in there and advising the florist that you are making all these wedding flowers so as not to make a profit then maybe, just maybe, you have pissed the florist off. We rely on weddings and funerals to pay for our shops i.e rent/rates/water/insurance etc...And thats another thing have you obtained insurance for doing these weddings. Nobody on here would dream of taking weddings without lots of insurance as things can and do go wrong. Our contacts are not "prized" as you say but we do not just give them out to anyone and everyone who asks on here...It seems to be the case that people are coming on here posting a couple of times always wanting to know our suppliers, tricks of the trade and such and then bugger off never to be seen again. I am not saying that is what you are doing but you are not helping yourself by getting stroppy when someone on here has tried to help you by pointing you to a different area of the forum which may actually be more helpful to you. As for saying you will not be ordering large amounts let me remind you that your first post on this thread said that minimum amount wasnt an issue I may have read it wrong but it seems to me that you do want to buy wholesale amounts of flowers without actually being a business paying your way. I wish you well but I agree with FBA that this is the wrong section for you.

i'm not aware that I have to be a business in order to buy large amounts of flowers as long as I am not trying to buy from a wholesaler, which I'm not.
I use a wholesaler and import for my design business because I legally can for that, this however is not work its a hobby and I am not trying to make out I am trade.I will happily do down the right route to find a supplier. i'm not earning anything but experience out of what I do therefor there is no need for me to call it a business and register, I wouldnt have time to run a Florist business and do my day job, I do what I do for my friends because I want to when I'm able to. I am insured as I do Party planning and work as a designer,I did check that I am covered for the floristry element also, however luckily as I only do flowers for friends its unlikely that anyone would want to make a claim anyway. As for the local florist I have in the past given her alot of work from the party planning and passed on her number when I have been asked to do flowers and been uable to due to work travel commitments and meetings. perhaps the other newbies who asked questions and info and then never came back had their heads biten off too! bless.

Hello Funky,
![]() I worked as a party planner for a hotel and then set up a business with a group of friends from uni. I work full-time as a designer so I currently help with the party planning but am more involved with bookings and passing on contacts than being hands on at an event anymore. Are you a party planner also? x |

No im aflorist...reason i asked if you owned it, maybe if you got a florist to recommend doing the flowers for your function, maybe the when your doing your floristry they could help you out.......just an idea....
Also you could claim a commission from the florist some accept this, some dont

Hiya forget me not, im confused ( don't take much as the others will say ) earlier in the thread you say you wont use the local florist because of the standard of her flowers, but then in another post you wrote that you pass lots of work her way when doing the party plan
but im sure there are quite a few florists that way who come on here maybe they could help
