Perhaps you should go over this thread again and read post No. 1.
Sounds like a misunderstanding to me. MM posted that its a shame that some people get put down because they ask advice e.g. Rsl (I agree with that) and Lavenderblue asked her outright about paying tax etc on home work
which she's clarified she doesn't do

I was wrong Seems i'm wasting my time here.

Madmooer, there are plenty of people on here that do want to exchange experiences, offer advice and have fun . Don't leave us, post some more and enjoy chatting with some likeminded people.

Madmooer everyone is welcome here and that includes you, I'm sick of everyone reading too much into comments and getting offended so easily. I'm getting bored of it now.

With regards to this thread, I chose not to reply directly because I don't agree with what was being asked. I've worked damn hard for my shop, I'm certainly not going to give tips to homeworkers on how to take business away from other businesses. It is normal for me to have an affinity with other business owners (so I agree wholeheartedly with Elouise and Lavender) and so obviously Tree and Madmooer will to want to try to help RSL as they are in the same situation.
Agree that shop owners aren't going to reply helpfully to this thread and homeworkers will!

I agree with every single word - well said! There's always gonna be differences, because that's life. On certain things we just need to agree to disagree

Hi there, If you live on a road which is not a cul-de-sac or dead end, why don't you try putting up a small sign at the end of the garden near the road advertising what you do, people will then come up to your garage & you can take it from there.

I started out like that, when I was out I used to bring the sign in & nobody came up, if I wanted a day off I did not put the sign out, it worked a treat & customers started arriving within a couple of hours, like magic!

The council might object if you start running a full retail biz from your garage but it is a great way to learn at your own pace, pick up some business & give yourself confidence for the next step.

good luck

pete
