Yesterday I sold a teddy, it was the biggest oasis item I have sold. The lady wanted to have a go at making it for her baby's grave. I thought it was really nice that she wanted to make something special herself for her baby. She bought a roll of ribbon too, and quickly picked up how to pleat, No corners so it will be straight forward for her. I think we have to accept that just because we have been trained we don't have exclusive rights to floristry.
I made my own wedding dress and strangely enough it didn't have Yves Saint Laurent in tears (well they might have been tears of laughter actually) and I baked all my childrens birthday cakes ......... move over Jane Asher! There's room in the big world of crafts for all of us, and as long as people are making things for themselves it doesn't matter if they are not top quality. It's only when people pretend to be what they are not in the money changing hands business that I complain. She climbs down from her soap box.

Did not mean ones who own shops(I had a salon for 20 years and did complain , had one put her leaflet through my letterbox so sent it to tax and council)I am talking of people who have their hair done in their own homes to get it cheaper, and yes I agree with you you do have the right to complain .

We seem to have built up quite a reputation in our town, as we are the only florist (out of 5-6) who will sell sundries. We sell all kinds of stuff - cello, ribbon, oasis, dishes, wires and have got little rolls of pot tape and oasis fix from country baskets as well.
I don't see the harm in people 'having a go', its a bit like the flower councils last promo of 'so simple...so try it' where they'll (hopefully) get the flowers from you, have a go, and keep coming back.
