Hello! Plastic or foam letters???

Hi Everyone,

I'm thinking of having a go at my first letter frame tribute, would you recommend plastic or foam backed letters?

If you are practising I'd go foam, I think its quite a bit cheaper.

I recently made three letter tributes for a funeral and bought the pre made words, some foam and some plastic. I found the problem with the plastic backed ones was getting the edging to attach properly, I tried with the pins but then had to resort to the good old glue gun which had the effect of melting my ribbons! (and finger ends) so in future I will be going for foam backed whenever possible!

foam definately, as when you ribbon, the pins get a firm grip into the foam backing, the plastic backs, the pins just slip out again!

Hi Chickapea,

Thank you for your reply, after having played with both types I definitely prefer the foam backed base although the plastic is very strong it is much harder to work with. It's nice to know you feel the same way. Thanks again for your feedback!

I agree, i always buy foam, I like to push the german pins into the foam bit and even when attaching cards i like to use wire and push the wire in too, no worries of coming out then

Definitely preferred doing the foam backed. They're just that little bit bigger which allows you to get another row of flowers in and it just looks so much fuller and nicer. It was when price was an issue and it was mum,dad etc that the plastic tended to be the best option. Could always get more per letter for the foam backed.
