I agree with you Obowl, everyone needs a holiday even if it be in short bursts. We have just bought a caravan so we can go for "one nighters" over the weekends. At least its a change of scenery.

well i wish our boss would look at this we try to make him take a break but he is very reluctant. myself and my collegue take all our holidays,all 4 weeks, but not the boss we are still trying to get him to go away this year, he says after this wedding and after that wedding but doesnt do anything about it and he really needs a break, we shall just keep on nagging.

Devon sure is a lovely place, no wonder your boss doesn't want to go away ~ he lives in a beautiful county already!

Tell your boss not to forget that, although it is admirable that he takes his work so seriously, by taking a break he can refresh and bring even newer and better ideas to his work.
If he won’t have a “real” holiday, why not suggest he at least takes a long weekend break and goes the SOF bash, that would be a working holiday and he could meet loadsa like minded people and bring lots of good ideas back with him. He might even meet FN folk there (there is a rumour that they somewhat took over the place last time)

I am off to the Lake District in a week’s time, and I am hoping to bring some "earthy" ideas back with me. So to answer the thread, yes I think it is very important to take a break. I you can’t close the shop down pay someone to run it for a week for you!

I get the odd weekend here and there when my mum covers for me. Other than that I take hogmanay until the first back that the wholesalers open.

I'm off to Italy in a few weeks,,florence, pisa etc,,a bit of culture,,and then out to my little hovel in spain for proper beach holiday mid august for couple of weeks. My girls are great,,they love it when I'm away,,and so do I!!
