wish me luck

hi all i am doing 5 funeral tributes today the first i have done in over 18 months after finishing colledge, i couldnt face doing any big work after finishing as i had done 9 years of training and got half way through my ncfe level 3 floristry and decided i didnt want to do it boy do i regreat it now!
still no use crying over spilt milk so time to get back to it, i have been doing small work displays and hand ties ect but this is the first big work so i am a little nervous of how it will turn out.
Its amazing how things come back to you when you start i made all my ribbon pleating last night and wizzed through it.
I box pleat my ribbons for basing but i have noticed on your albums some of you do it differently i would be interested to chat about this and see what the different ways are as to be honest i was only taught two ways

julie

Don't know if any of you lot do it but I sometimes do two rows of box pleat (sort of back to back) so they look like an old fashioned ruff (Elizabethan). Find it cuts down on the number of flowers used

One florist I knew used to do a box pleat and then sort of folded the next row on top on the angle - it looked lovely but I could NEVER get the hang of it. He SO annoyed me as he had dropped out in college (level 2) but was the most brilliant florist I have so far had the luck to meet (he opened his shop straight after he left college and never worked for anyone else so it was purely his own imagination) - unfortunately he sort of threw his sexual inclinations at us and I felt I couldn't work there for very long (which was a real shame cuz I reckon I could have learned a lot from him) - not only that it was the only florists I have ever been in where he actively encouraged the staff to have a ciggie in the workroom - weird. But he sure did lovely work - and the ribbon thing was great.
