Does anyone else get hassled to make charity donations? I am asked at least every couple of weeks or so to donate vouchers, designs etc. I support 4 local primary schools, a hospice and breast cancer charity, I do designs that retail at £50 for each to raffle and after my sucessful re-launch with Macmillan I will do an annual coffee morning for them. I was approached by two different people last week, one for a ladies indulgence evening, another for a private school trip to Aus (they actually wanted me to donate 20 table centres and a raffle prize!!) when I explained that I had already got my charity donations sorted for this coming year they got really arsey, did I realise how much publicity it would get me, what fine causes they were etc etc. Even when I tried to explain that I couldn't support everyone, after all I am trying to make a living, they still thought I was being a tight arse. They actually made me feel really bad, their attitude was unbelievable, I'm going to write to the school one to complain, I think there are more deserving causes than their cricket team having a jolly to Aus!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Florist Alcohol Fund for one!

I know every charity is a worthwhile cause but as you say we are here to make money we sort out our charities at the beginning of the year and they are the only ones we donate to next year we will choose different ones if we gave to all who are out there begging we would be working for charity and the till would be empty they do pxxx me of if they are not on the phone they are standing in front of you we just say sorry and hang up or just walk away I'm sure they are saying we are rude but it is the only way to get rid of them

Yes, we get at least 4 phone calls a week, we already donate gifts to the local schools for their fetes etc, which I don't mind, but I get a bit annoyed with the phone calls as they get quite rude when you say no thanks.

Whilst on the subject, i was wondering if you girls would be willing to sponsor me on a study tour i will be undertaking later in the year. The study will involve a long and arduous trip to Australia where i will be helping to examine the effect of short term alcohol abuse together with random exposure to midday sun and salt water. Taking part in the survey will involve substantial personal sacrifice as it is expected to be 7 days per week without rest periods. Naturally, the work will require funds in order to purchase raw materials, i.e. red wine, white wine, lager, suncream, designer sunglasses, beach towels etc. If you feel you are able to assist in this worthy cause, please send cheques payable to myself. Hey I heard things are cheaper out there
especially if you roll your pants up and squash the grapes yourself - however in an aim to be supportive count me in for 50p.
