The variety in this job is amazing, one day you are seeing a young couple excited about their wedding, the next helping someone to hang on whilst they try to pick flowers for their loved one who has just died. Then there is all the in-between. To-night I'm making an arrangement for a local public house, sadly it will be necessary for me to take it down in person later – and it would frankly, be bad manners if I did not stop to have a pint or two with the locals. (oh the trials and tribulations you go through with this job) Love it? No, I adore it – the bestest job in the whole world. ![]()

Oh Happy Birthday Great Flower Lady. And just for the record I have no problem with you being a home based florist. I have to admit I feel a little jelous, I am about to sign a new lease for the shop - and the rent has gone up - again! I hate having to pay these huge shop rents to the landlords. If I could work from home I could keep that money for myself..........mmmmmmmm........money, I remember that from the good old days when I worked for someone else. It was the stuff you could put in your purse and spend on yourself..............

Hey Timmi money is what you used to have before you were the boss!
![]() Seriously I have heard anything from 18 months to 3 years (not even open 3 months yet myself) but I strongly believe that you have to treat every week as if it is your first - one false move and all the good reputation can go pfhht! Anyone else have any ideas of how long it takes to become "established"? Or is it like living in Newfoundland - you're still an outsider after 50 years! ![]() |

ONLY 50 YEARS! THERE IS HOPE YET THEN
![]() Seriously though, I think that this has been an awful year for florists in gerneral. Farmers and Nurserymen are saying the same thing about the market and a good indication of how things are - our suppliers are saying that it's been a poor year. So hang on in there. Our NEW "florist" year is just about to begin. ![]()
