Forum Etiquette

Not something i thought would need to be documented. It's basically just common sense and good manners isn't it?

We've got a forum that is free to use. It's open to anyone to post and express their views. It's also open to anyone to respond to posts and express an entirely different view.

It's not really 'good manners' to say "that's a load of rubbish" with saying why you think its a load of rubbish. If you don't agree with what has been said then by all means say so, but explain why. Don't just knock someone because they express themselves differently to you or because their posts are a bit long winded. You don't have to read every post so if a subject doesn't interest you, skip over it, but don't rubbish it.

There is a difference between 'constructive criticism' and 'destructive criticism'. 'Destructive' serves no purpose other than to wind people up and deter other people from posting. 'Constructive' is valuable, even if not approved by anyone. You are entitled to your point of view and you shouldn't be afraid to express it out of fear of ridicule.

Its not just who's rubbed Fly up the wrong way, there seems to be a large percentage of our members that feel this way also, and this will now stop.

So as Fly says, if anyone, even long term members post personal attacks, bully or just are not constructive in a post by a member on an issue that could be debated in an adult manner will now be warned.

If after a warning they repeat this behavior, they will be permanently banned.

This forum is growing and so are the views of its members, everyone deserves to say what they think, but to just spam and rubbish people who have gone out of there way to open up a topic or discussion is just bad form and we don't need these people on this forum.

i have to agree and in the past have been a bit aprehensive about posting an opinion on something as some of the posters seem to think it is acceptable to give snidey comments. I am a bit past playground comments and know it alls and find them obnoxious. I also accept that while i may have a certain opinion others may differ. i think people should perhaps just give a little thought if offering an opinion as to how they give it and how it may be taken. On the whole though i do enjoy the forum

Well said It is a lovely forum with lots of nice people who are very helpful it would be a pity to allow a few to spoil it
