Have noticed you can now buy smaller packs of gerbera pills. I bought the big tub of 1,000 but it takes so long to get through them (at that price you don't throw them about) if you're not careful and the moisture gets into the tub, they start to break up and you're left with a tub of granules/powder. I've now put some sachets of silica gel in the tub to try and slow it down (those little packets that come in things you buy) The simple act of using your fingers to take one of the pills out is going to add moisture, so really should use tweezers!

a florist i worked at tested them and they found no notice in lasting from the gerberas with a pill to the ones without.
on the subject of tests.. i am doing a little test with some roses to find out if it really does make a difference cutting the ends and putting them in water quickly When when you cut your stems on a handtied, by the time you have put the cello on the bottom, put the bow on it, and filled it up with water whether the roses ends would have sealed up. I'll let you know what happens, but upto now the rose i didn't even cut at all, is surviving pretty well

I didn't used to wire gerberas i always though it looked a bit rubbish but in the last year so many customers have started asking for them wired that I wire them all now and they are so much easier to work with because they always go where you want them to, I wish sunflowers did the same!
