I make an initial small hole with my little finger and then hold then stems right at the bottom to insert them, then with each push just hold the stems a little higher until they are as far in as you want them.

Hope this helps.

Louise

You can also stick wood up the stems, that round stuff I think it is called dowel? and or bind the stem with pot tape

Yes, definitely shove something up the stem. If you hang onto all your long rose stems and dry them out, they are good for that sort of thing. Hold the Amy upside down, pour in some water and then tape the end quite firmly to seal in the water. You can then push it into the oasis. There should be enough water to last a week but any longer you'll have to watch it. Depends on what its for. If a wedding then it's only for the moment anyway. If it was for longer, i'd steer away from oasis and have it in water.

Thanks Fly I have been putting water in stem then used cotten wool to seal it so it could still take up water from the oasis . I will now be saving all my rose stems
