Poinsettias...the dreaded curse of christmas!
Why in heavens' name we try to sell (and guarantee) a tropical flowering plant during the depths of a British winter has never ceased to amaze me. Every year i tell myself i'm not going to bother but end up doing it anyway. I'm not surprised that quite a few growers have given up and turned themselves to less risky ventures. If you're really lucky..most of your customers (but not all) will look after them properly and won't bring them back after xmas (minus all foliage) for a refund. As to suppliers, if the Dutch won't send (and i'm pretty sure they will have considered it very carefully)and you haven't got any local growers then it may be a bit difficult.

if your in england, buy English. The government subsidise the dutch growers, hence ,they're grown under warm conditions. They arrive in U.K. in brill condition, but our weather kills them. Our government is too tight, our points, are sturdy, they'll survive, if you don't put them in a draft, or over water them. I learnt that lesson years ago, I brought loads home, kept them in a bedroom, really looked after them{so I thought}. the whole b....y lot died. five bin bags, I threw out!! Never again
