strange question
okay. a client comes in and asks me the following, i have no idea so i am asking you lot.
she received a rainbow rose from a friend.. not from my shop btw... and it lasted a long time, when it finally died, the lady cut of the head and planted the rose stem, it grew into a plant and has now started flowering indoors. should she plant it outside eventually, after the winter or leave it as an indoor plant. i said i think outdoors but wasnt too sure. i am sure it is simple, but thought to double check with you all.. |

That's amazing. To produce the rainbow roses they slice the stems so the dye is taken up by individual petals (or so I am told ~ the science of it all passes by my small brain). You would expect so much damage to be done to the stem that it would be useless for profigation.

I have had good results with propagating roses, just by cutting stem off, placing in water for two days then put rooting powder on and plant(inside first)not all of the stems take but ... well I now have 9 new rose bushes in my garden.Must say you have to be in the mood to fuss with them.
Ok I know you cango to a garden centre but these were roses that were bought for me with special meanings.eg wedding ann from our sons, recovering from operation etc.

I was told rainbow roses are created by the root ball being split up and placed into different died water. Is this incorrect?
