Never use a commercial fridge..... they de-hydrate your stock....

you need a cold room which is designed for florstry with an evaporater with a low TD...

The TD is the temperature difference achieved between air on to the evaporater and air off.

A cold room is a must .... god knows how all you florists survive without one...

if you aint got the money consider going down the leasing route and after the term it is all yours...

regards

plant pot.... i use an air conditioner for the main section of the shop.... and a commercial chiller/cold room for the roses etc.. IT IS NOT A FRIDGE (honest ) the roses kept fantastic in it, would def still be using it if it hadnt given up the ghost. Have been in touch with flora cool and they are sending down some info..... but thx for the info kiddo, especially on my post on chillers seeing as you were the only one to comment lol.

Flora cool chiller

I have one of the Flora Cool chillers. I've had it about 4 years now and it is the best thing I've ever invested in. At my last shop we had a massive cool room which I had built at the back of the shop. (This is an option if you have a fab handy man). When I bought the shop I'm in now I took the plunge and the second mortgage to pay for it and got one of the glass jobbies in the shop. Every single week of every single year it saves me tons of money and I can have my flowers for the customers to see instead of stuck out the back. I know they're a lot of money and not for everybody but the only regret I have is that my shop isn't big enough to have one twice the size.
The other good thing is you don't have to sweep the floor every 5 minutes as all the bits endup under the stand where you cant see them

Well, thanks everyone for your input on this. I have managed to get hold of a drinks chiller very cheap to just 'get my by' until ive got myself and my shop sorted. Sign the lease tomorrow, cant wait! Wish me luck!

I suppose you could say both....i have a shop and also other business intrests.. But I would never push my supplier side on here...

back to the thread.... I suppose a frdige is better than nothing.... but please consider a system designed for flower materials...

other alternative is to look in your local yellow pages etc and look for a proper refrigeration designer / contractor whome will assist you and give you bespoke products etc.
