good luck Amandalou, a word of advice about a drinks cooler is it tends to dry out leather fern if you use it at the back of buttonholes, I didnt realise it was the drinks cooler that was making the fern look a bit shrivled until plant pot mentioned the air is drier in a drinks cooler, then the penny dropped. I put my corsages in their boxes when I put them in the drinks cooler and a bit of wet tissue helps at the bottom too, apart from that it works fine for me

Congratulations on your shop though and may you thrive and prosper!

back to the thread.... I suppose a frdige is better than nothing.... but please consider a system designed for flower materials...

other alternative is to look in your local yellow pages etc and look for a proper refrigeration designer / contractor whome will assist you and give you bespoke products etc.
message ADMIN to be sure but I think that is what the classified add section is for (your other business interests) I don't think he has any problem with people advertising as long as its in the right section. Correct me please Moderators if I am wrong!

I bought the cooler unit / compressor for about £1200, and then completely insulated one room and inserted the cooler in the wall. It works well, and I was even able to expand into the room next door, just get the thick sheets of insulation foam with the silver paper on, (B & Q or somewhere) .

I will try and post a picture of my "home-made" cold room soon!

I have a cold room. We call it the fridge. I was really lucky though. The property I bought was a closed butchers shop so the room was already there! All we did was replace the insulation sheets in the walls. We took out the actual fan as the room was cold enough for the flowers without it. So we have the fridge but no running costs for the fan

I was thinking of getting an air conditioning unit in. Does anyone already have one or have any comments on them. You can buy them now and they dont have to be vented. What do yous think
