Hiya guys!
I was looking on Metz earlier, and they said to leave the bottom of hycacinths in tact. I was lead to believe that they can't take up water/nutrients if you leave the white fleshy bit on the bottom. What is the right thing to do as I am ordering 100's for a wedding? They are going to line the sides of the aisle on a moss bed with tea-lights. Don't wanna all droop now do I!

The white fleshy bit is what is left once the outer bulb is cut/sheared away. This is still full of the nutrients of the bulb, hence why they last so long and I think the hyacinth just drinks up through this. We never cut hyacinths and results are fine. Plus they ooze slime if you do cut them!
Your hyacinth wedding sounds lush - hope you'll post pics |

Thanks guys!
I will take photos. I have lots, but can't post them on here, which is a shame.

Cause it says it the wrong file type and/or too big...
I'll look into the previous threads on this again, but I think I need a big drink to help the proceedings!
