Why do carnations wilt in a thunderstorm?
I am sure that I read either on this site or somewhere else (its called having a "senior moment" - lol) that carnations wilt during a thunderstorm. Can someone let me know whether this is the case or not??

I'm not sure that the theory has been accurately tested yet but as you've so kindly volunteered....

Next time there is a thunderstorm up your way...take a large bunch of spray car, put them into a wide galvanized bucket with plenty of water and stand in the middle of the nearest field holding them at arms length.

Please let us know what happens.

So you do have my welfare at heart Fly!!!! What can I say, I am so touched!!! lol.

We actually had a thunderstorm this afternoon - but I was out delivering at the time so I don't know whether the carnations were affected, however my dog was. Although he was with my Mum at the time when I got back he was shaking from head to foot and was so pleased to see me!!!

Surely that theory would be flawed though, as how would you know if it was the thunder storm or the bucket that affected them
