Went to a demo the other day and they recommended putting cake wrack over bucket and putting gerberas into that to help straighten whilst conditioning over night? Not tried it yet!

That sounds like a good idea would certainly straighten then we keep them in card and hang over dutch riser bucket

usually stay an card for a while then straight into vase with a bit of flower food in water but....one supplier brings them in cello wrapped buches of ten nice straight stems already straight into vases and they seem to do well

I have a wire frame over a tall dutch bucket filled with water which I stand them in after cutting the bottom of the stems. Since the gerbera "viagra" tablets have been on the market I have been using them, and I must say it does the trick nicely. They stand tall and straight and last for ages

pmsl. I knew it would be you snowy. Put it this way love, if the real viagra worked as well as the gerbera tablets none of us would have any problems
Seriously the tablets are good and you get loads of them in a box so I think its money well spent. No idea who makes them but whoever it is can I have a commission please!! The other thing is that overnight make sure the gerbera have a drink in good deep water to force the water up to stems, but next day put them into ordinary depth water (after all we can all have too much of a good thing)

I have always been told that gerberas don't like the cold and I have found them to damp off quicker if put in the cold room. But I had quick look about so see if there were any expert opinons. A grower I found, says they should be keep at temperatures between 7-15 degrees and not to put them in a cold room.

We also put less water in their vase than other flowers and use gerbera tablets (when I remember hehe)

I hang mine in cardboard over dutch bucket for a few hours, then they have fab straight stems (I don't like to wire them)
