I made a cardboard cover for one of the tall buckets with a load of holes in it and just pop them in that with fresh water - I find they last longer and this straightens the stems - dont have a cold room either!

I always keep them in the card and then hang them over a dutch bucket with flower food water and put them in the cold room overnight. If you make sure the gerbera are all hanging rather than touching the bottom of the bucket then this will make sure that they condition properly and stems will be straight rather than with a curve.
Keep them in the cooler for a good few hours before putting them in your shop to make sure they have had a chance to straighten however, I find you get better results if you condition them overnight before putting them in your shop as they have a chance to soak up the water and tend to end up a lot straighter with stronger stems. I always find cutting them with a knife rather than scissors helps as you don't crush the soft stems. Hope this helps. Davina ![]() |

Hello!!
EVERYONEIm new to this and feel i bit nervous, we keep our Gerbera out of the cold room, and we also the Gerbera tablets which are great, as it prolongs them and keeps the stem strong. hope this helps! |
