apparently hanging cds will scare them off as well though the pigeons at my shop aren't scared off them they are hard! pigeons in edgeley

Poor Rosa and your poor brassicas. I'd try Sarah's idea it might work, if not there is always a shot gun!

I would say that the reason the hanging cd's don't work with your "ard" pigions Sarah is that you are using the wrong ones. You have to hang heavy metal ones, or hard rock. They ain't daft your pigions they know a couple of Barry White's aint gonna do them any harm at all.

Oh you just wrote that as I was posting lol. Well all I can say is that when I moved into my house 30 years ago I planted tulips in the front garden and bless them, my daughter who lives there now told me that they still looked lovely this spring!

I've got cd's hanging from the balcony of the house next to mine in spain cos its pigeon central,,it works!! Next door is empty and the flaming things roost there and wake me up at some ungodly hour when I'm there so I got my husband to climb over and hang the cd's ,,thats shifted the blighters!! well,,them and the shotgun and the poison!!

I used to plant bulbs and then take them up after they die off and dry them out. My mum said if you look at parks and gardens they never take them up and they still come back just as good. So I don't bother lifting them anymore. Sorry rainbow i have had a bit of time on my hands today.

well, you know what we need you to do if you're looking for something to do Solly!

what about dahlias? I know a few dahlia fanatics that religiously dig them up and put them to bed for the winter...but a gardening programme said you can leave where they are and just cover them over with straw or something I can't really be bothered going round digging them up...not much of a winter gardener

I've been told that all the new sorts ain't as good as the old ones. Its not " build" to last any more. All my old tulips are very faithful but I got some new sorts and they bloom less every year.
